The theatre predating Shakespeare’s Globe is discovered…

If only it were possible to step into a time machine and land ourselves in the the Curtain theatre (or the Globe itself!) with a mug of ale and a raucous tale for the evening…

Archeologists in London have discovered the remains of an early playhouse used by William Shakespeare’s company where Romeo and Juliet and Henry V were first performed.

Predating the riverside Globe, the Curtain theatre, north of the river Thames in Shoreditch, was home to Shakespeare’s company – the Lord Chamberlain’s Men.

Remains of walls forming the gallery and the yard within the venue have been discovered by archaeologists from Museum of London Archaeology (MOLA).

When Antarctica Was Warm…

Whenever I read an article about how Antarctica was once a warm and tree covered paradise, my imagination soars and I wonder, well then, who was living there then? Some people say that the true location of Atlantis is under the ice of Antarctica – it IS a giant island after all… And with all the evidence lately of civilization being way older than we ever thought, who is to say that we weren’t around a million years ago building cities? (See: The Vedic literature of India!) –

EcoAlert: Ancient Antarctica Found Warmer & Wetter Than Expected

“A new university-led study with NASA participation finds ancient Antarctica was much warmer and wetter than previously suspected. The climate was suitable to support substantial vegetation — including stunted trees — along the edges of the frozen continent.

By examining plant leaf wax remnants in sediment core samples taken from beneath the Ross Ice Shelf, the research team found summer temperatures along the Antarctic coast 15 to 20 million years ago were 20 degrees Fahrenheit (11 degrees Celsius) warmer than today, with temperatures reaching as high as 45 degrees Fahrenheit (7 degrees Celsius). Precipitation levels also were found to be several times higher than today.

“The ultimate goal of the study was to better understand what the future of climate change may look like,” said Feakins, an assistant professor of Earth sciences at the USC Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences. “Just as history has a lot to teach us about the future, so does past climate. This record shows us how much warmer and wetter it can get around the Antarctic ice sheet as the climate system heats up. This is some of the first evidence of just how much warmer it was.”…

“The Door of the Cougar”

Blow your mind and read about Puma Punku, my favorite ancient ruin. Built with stone cutting techniques that rival our own, this place is the smoking gun for the idea that super advanced civilizations existed way, way, way long ago –

“Pumapunku, also called “Puma Pumku” or “Puma Puncu”, is part of a large temple complex or monument group that is part of the Tiwanaku Site near Tiwanaku, Bolivia. In Aymara, its name means, “The Door of the Cougar”. The processes and technologies involved in the creation of these temples are still not fully understood by modern scholars. Our current ideas of the Tiwanaku culture hold that they had no writing system and also that the invention of the wheel was most likely unknown to them. The architectural achievements seen at Pumapunku are striking in light of the presumed level of technological capability available during its construction. Due to the monumental proportions of the stones, the method by which they were transported to Pumapunku has been a topic of interest since the temple’s discovery.

Of course there is no certainty that this was the reason as the ancient builders left no written records. All the legends have been handed down through the generations…”
