Do your kids see dead people?

I admit, sometimes the reason I can’t wait for my toddler to develop more verbal skills is so when I ask her if she remembers anything from a past life, she’ll be able to respond with more than two-word combinations such as: “kitty, go?”

I’ve been told several times that little ones tend to remember past lives rather clearly in some cases, and that it is quite interesting to interview children about such things before they become too old to remember…

On this note, if you think your babe has some paranormal skills, check this out…

Psychic Medium In Search of Paranormal Kids
Psychic medium Beckah Boyd is on the lookout for children with psychic abilities as case studies for her new book Raising Your Gifted Child a handbook for parents who are dealing with psychic children.

Manchester, NH – Jan 04, 2009 – Do your kids see dead people? Bend spoons with their mind, know what you are thinking or have some other hidden talent? Beckah Boyd is a psychic medium and currently authoring a new book called Raising Your Gifted Child giving parents step by step instructions when it comes to adapting to and understanding their children’s abilities and how to enhance them.
She is looking for kids from ages four to fifteen to use as case studies for her upcoming book. Beckah is offering free testing for the kids who come to see her and free help for the parents with full discretion in her book. “I am not looking to out these kids as psychics, I am just hoping that someone will pick up the book and maybe they can identify with both the child and parent. Names aren’t the focus the journey is.” Beckah says.

Kids face a lot of challenges in their life, but psychic abilities shouldn’t be one of them. Beckah believes it is natural in each of us and that society has taught us to ignore it, but in some kids that’s just not possible and it’s better to face the situation head on.   [the rest]

Even More Reasons To Drink Coffee

As if we needed more reasons to drink delicious, hot, wonderful coffee… now coffee is being reincarnated into green biofuels. I bet this fuel emits a delightful coffee-ish scent while you’re driving, eh?

America’s Addiction Fuels Desire For Coffee Ground Biodiesel
Written by Nick Chambers

Researchers are reporting they have successfully made a high quality biodiesel from spent coffee grounds. They estimate that the coffee ground biodiesel industry could generate as much as $8,000,000 in profits annually using waste from US Starbucks stores alone.

One of the main limits to the acceptance of biodiesel as an alternative fuel is its price premium above regular diesel. To bring the price of biodiesel down, the industry uses as much waste material from other industries as possible to make it — such as used fryer oil and animal fats from poultry processing.

In holding with the idea of cheap biodiesel feedstocks, a team of researchers in the Chemical and Materials Engineering Department at the University of Nevada figured that maybe spent coffee grounds would fit the bill too. [the rest]

Alien trumps God

The aliens should just go ahead and open their own church now:

People Said to Believe in Aliens and Ghosts More Than God

By Robert Roy Britt

More people believe in aliens and ghosts than in God, a new survey finds, according to a British newspaper.

The survey, however, was done by a marketing firm in conjunction with the release of an X-Files DVD, and details of how the poll was conducted were not reported in the Daily Mail. Survey questions, depending on how they are written, can greatly skew results, along with how subjects are sampled.

That said, the poll of 3,000 people found that 58 percent believe in the supernatural, including paranormal encounters, while 54 percent believe God exists. Women were more likely than men to believe in the supernatural and were also more likely to visit a medium.

Indeed, humans are prone to believing in things they can neither see nor find logical evidence for.

A survey of U.S. college students done in 2006 found 23 percent of freshmen had a general belief in paranormal concepts — from astrology to communicating with the dead. Interestingly, the number jumped to 31 percent among seniors and 34 percent among graduate students.

Researchers who have compared various human belief systems say our tendency to believe is deeply rooted…[the rest]
