Underground Map Reveals Hidden Secrets Of Stonehenge And Nearby Monstrous “Super Henge”

by Justine Alford (IFLScience)

“After spending four years scanning the ground surrounding the world’s most famous prehistoric monument, University of Birmingham archeologists have produced a map of unprecedented detail of the earth beneath Stonehenge. The findings have yielded many unexpected surprises that are transforming our understanding of this ancient landscape, including details of a nearby 1.5 kilometer-round “super henge” and a plethora of previously unknown monuments.

For the survey, named the “Stonehenge Hidden Landscape Project,” researchers ditched their digging tools and turned to magnetometers and ground penetrating radars that they dragged around with quad bikes. These techniques, combined with aerial photography and airborne laser scanning, produced high-resolution 3D maps of the iconic landscape and the hidden secrets below…”

John Titor: Time Traveler or Hoaxster Extraordinaire?

If there’s one urban legend we love, it’s the mystery of John Titor. The thing about time travel is that those who claim to have experienced it have a built in device that ensures they cannot be proven wrong — that is, they often claim that there are many future realities and their’s may not line up with ours. So, when John Titor made his claims, most of the Internet took them with a grain of salt — but the thing is, some of those claims have turned out to be close to the truth (some not so much), and the most fearsome claim of all, a devastating WWIII scenario, is yet to unfold — the events were said to occur in 2015.

The question remains, who is John Titor? The perpetrator of a clever internet hoax, or a man from the future with a message and a mission to save our world? Whoever he was, in the year 2000 he signed on to the net and described in various detail a dystopian future that grabbed our imagination and still has not let go…

The Mystery of John Titor: Hoax or Time Traveler?

By Rick Paulas (PSMag)

“A person named “John Titor” started posting on the Internet one day, claiming to be from the future and predicting the end of the world. Then he suddenly disappeared, never to be heard from again.

This is our planet’s bleak future: a second Civil War splinters America into five factions, leaving the new capital based in Omaha. World War III breaks out in 2015, starting with Russia and the U.S. trading nukes and ending with three billion dead. Then, to top it all off, a computer bug delivers where Y2K sputtered, destroying our world as we know it. That is, unless an audacious time traveler successfully traverses the space-time continuum to change the course of future history.

In late 2000, that person signed onto the Internet…”

Ancient Apocalypse: Zombies and Plagues

A plague so horrible that the dead were disposed of in unusual or violent ways is not just the stuff of zombie movies. Newly unearthed remains at Luxor in Egypt reveal an ancient plague so potent that religious burial rites were completely overlooked before the bodies were incinerated or buried under lime. “We found evidence of corpses either burned or buried inside the lime…They had to dispose of them without losing any time…”

Remains of ‘End of the World’ Epidemic Found in Ancient Egypt

By Owen Jarus, Live Science Contributor

“Archaeologists have uncovered the remains of an epidemic in Egypt so terrible that one ancient writer believed the world was coming to an end.

Working at the Funerary Complex of Harwa and Akhimenru in the west bank of the ancient city of Thebes (modern-day Luxor) in Egypt, the team of the Italian Archaeological Mission to Luxor (MAIL) found bodies covered with a thick layer of lime (historically used as a disinfectant). The researchers also found three kilns where the lime was produced, as well as a giant bonfire containing human remains, where many of the plague victims were incinerated.

Pottery remains found in the kilns allowed researchers to date the grisly operation to the third century A.D., a time when a series of epidemics now dubbed the “Plague of Cyprian” ravaged the Roman Empire, which included Egypt. Saint Cyprian was a bishop of Carthage (a city in Tunisia) who described the plague as signaling the end of the world. [See Photos here of the Remains of Plague Victims & Thebes Site]”…
