The Reincarnationist QA Is Reincarnated (Briefly)

Author MaryJanice Davidson  has sent us her answers, and though our QA session is over, I thought I’d post it because this is an author that may very well appeal to you. MaryJanice is a New York Times and USA Today best-selling and prolific writer her upcoming book Undead and Undermined is to be released July 2011.

THE QUESTIONS:

What is your most marked characteristic that you believe could be a hold over from a past life?

My pitbull-esque determination.  Once I get my jaws into something, it’s almost impossible for me to let it go, whether it’s the determination to get published, to get the last piece of bacon…anything.

What is your principle defect that you believe may be inherited from a previous incarnation?

My Olympian-level procrastination.  I must have been someone who just couldn’t get stuff done in time.  I would have been a terrible spy.  Or laundress.

Which of your favorite heroes do you think you could have been and why?

Well, I have to take a page from the movie BULL DURHAM (when Kevin Costner’s character asks Annie, ‘How come in former lifetimes, everybody is someone famous? How come nobody ever says they were Joe Schmo?’).  So, with all respect, in my former life(ves) I was probably the guy in charge of cleaning up.  Or the woman in charge of driving the bus.  Something dull, yet vital.  I was Joe/Josephine Schmo!

Oh, but I might have been Henry VIII.  I’ve got the ego for it, not to mention the short attention span that took over his love life.  On second thought, I was probably Anne of Cleves…rejected because of my flabby thighs.

What three people from history would you like to have over to dinner for a discussion about reincarnation?
Lincoln, Madonna (I know, she’s not dead, but if anyonej’s been reincarnated it’s her, so I wanna invite her while she’s alive and her afterlife isn’t all clogged with invitations), Anne Boleyn, Jesus, Cleopatra…whoops, that’s not three…

What do you think happens when we die?

I have no idea.  Isn’t that the point of wondering about all this?  We don’t know.  But we sure wanna find out…without, you know, doing any first-hand research.  I’d like to think we don’t blow out like candles we don’t need once the electricity comes back on.  I think there’s energy, and I think the energy goes somewhere…finding out will be, as Peter Pan called it, “an awfully big adventure”.

When you come back next time, who (or what!) would you like to be?

Tough one!  I’ve been so fortunate in this life, I’ve not only gotten everything I ever wanted, I’ve also been able to live a dream life:  I’m a best-selling author, so I’m paid to travel the world and write about it.  It seems greedy to ask for more in the next life!  Like ordering in a restaurant:  “Yeah, this time I’d rather have only two years of rejection slips instead of over a decade.  And can I get a side of Pulitzer Prize?”  I think if I come back, all I’d ask is to be happy in whatever my life is…whether I’m fated to be a bricklayer or a baboon.

Dreaming like an Egyptian

by Robert Moss

The ancient Egyptians understood that in dreams, our eyes are opened. Their word for dream, rswt, is etymologically connected to the root meaning “to be awake”. It was written with a symbol representing an open eye.

The Egyptians believed that the gods speak to us in dreams. As the Bible story of Joseph and Pharaoh reminds us, they paid close attention to dream messages about the possible future. They practiced dream incubation for guidance and healing at temples and sacred sites. They understood that by recalling and working with dreams, we develop the art of memory, tapping into knowledge that belonged to us before we entered this life journey, and awakening to our connection with other life experiences.

The Egyptians also developed an advanced practice of conscious dream travel. Trained dreamers operated as seers, remote viewers and telepaths, advising on affairs of state and military strategy and providing a mental communications network between far-flung temples and administrative centers. They practiced shapeshifting, crossing time and space in the dreambodies of birds and animals.

Through conscious dream travel, ancient Egypt’s “frequent flyers” explored the roads of the afterlife and the multidimensional universe. It was understood that true initiation and transformation takes place in a deeper reality accessible through the dream journey beyond the body. A rightful king must be able to travel between the worlds…

incredible occurrences of unexplained behavior…

It’s hard to resist reporting on the UFO scene once in a while. So, here you go, from Huff Post – a really, REALLY great preview of a new book on the subject…

UFOs ‘On The Record’: Generals, Pilots And Government Officials Talk About What They Know

The subject of UFOs — of intense interest to the general public — is no longer something that reputable journalists will feel they need to avoid or dismiss as silly. Popular culture has distorted the facts about this compelling mystery, and a new book sets the record straight. “UFOs: Generals, Pilots and Government Officials Go On the Record” (Harmony Books / The Crown Publishing Group) by journalist Leslie Kean pulls back the curtain on the incredible occurrences of unexplained behavior by unknown objects over many decades.

“UFOs” includes a foreword by John Podesta and riveting, first-person accounts written by over a dozen military and aviation witnesses and official investigators from around the world. Contributors include a former governor of Arizona, the former head of the FAA’s Accidents and Investigations Division, military generals from five countries, a retired senior research scientist from NASA, Air Force and commercial pilots, and government officials from agencies investigating UFOs in their respective countries.
