Reincarnation Diaries

diary01

Our first Reincarnation Diary from a reader of the blog! Thank you Toni:

“I am the mother of 2 children. My son is 22 and my daughter is 12. When my daughter was 2 and started putting sentences together, she would often make comments out of the blue that started “when you were little and I was your mother”, or “when you were little and I was big”. They would always come out when we were doing some mundane task or errand.

Once in the grocery store she was sitting in the shopping cart and said “Oh! When you were little and I was your mother, I used to push you in the shopping cart”. And another time entering a department store she’d never been to “I took you here when you were little”.

There was another time when she saw a group of boys playing basketball and said “I played basket ball when I was a boy”.

When she would say these things, at first I would go along with her “game” and say “oh really….when was this”? And she’d get this annoyed look on her little face as if to say “don’t be stupid…you know what I mean”. After the third or fourth comment, I started really paying attention and trying to engage her and get her to elaborate. It hardly ever worked….she’d just look at me like I should know…I was there! But there were a few long detailed conversations that took place that I made sure to transcribe onto paper.

Of course, as time went on, these stories stopped. If I ask her about it now I get the standard pre-teen roll of the eyes and “mom please don’t embarrass me you crazy lady”.

Someday I’d LOVE to find a trustworthy person who could regress us together. I haven’t found anyone in MA that doesn’t want WAY more money than I can afford.”

Beginnings

cherry blossom

Although it is often difficult to separate the concept of reincarnation from fearful thoughts of death, reincarnation is as much about beginnings as it is about endings. Perhaps if we focus on the lighter half of the equation we may be able to avoid the trap of fearing the unknown?

Tune in to The Best of Our Knowledge online and listen to their show Beginnings:

“Where do we come from? It’s a fair question. Physicist Michio Kaku says we’re the reverb of a Big Bang from another universe. No, says poet Stephen Mitchell – the answer’s in our creation stories. But midwife Ina May Gaskin knows where we really come from – mom. In this hour of To the Best of Our Knowledge we’ll talk about Beginnings.”

Also covered in the show is Dr. Jim B. Tucker’s book Life Before Life: A Scientific Investigation of Children’s Memories of Previous Lives (St. Martin’s Press). Dr. Tucker discusses his book and his research in the area of reincarnation.
